Hey, I’m Matthew

I’m a web developer living in Scotland with my wife and two sons. I spend most of my working week building and maintaining Ruby on Rails applications and gems for an enterprise software company, and I use the same framework for my own side projects like Dailymuse. Away from the laptop, I enjoy taking photos, playing golf, and going to the movies.

This is my little corner of the internet — a place to think out loud, share things I find interesting, and write about whatever’s on my mind. Posts range from short observations to longer pieces on technology, productivity, books, and everyday life.

I’ve been writing here in one form or another for over 15 years, and I have no plan to stop anytime soon. Writing helps me think and get clear on things, and also provides an honest reflection of my life.

I still believe in blogs and RSS as the best way to follow people online. Some of my long-time favourites include Rhoneisms by Patrick Rhone, Execupundit by Michael Wade, and Nicholas Bate. They’ve all been writing consistently for years and are well worth your time.
