Giving Ghostty a spin
A couple of months ago, I started to give Hyper, the terminal emulator a spin. Fed up with iTerm2, I wanted to try out a couple of other terminal emulators. Hyper was the only one that I thought I could really use, so I decided to use it as my go-to terminal emulator, but the trial didn’t pan out, so I switched back to my default one.
Just before Christmas, though, I read that Ghostty has reached 1.0. Intrigued, I downloaded the terminal emulator and got a minimal configuration setup.
So far, I really like what I see. It’s still short of iTerm2 regarding features and customisation, but Ghostty is noticeably fast. I don’t have any benchmarks to verify this, but the speed is noticeable. While I don’t know that it’s quicker than iTerm2, it is fast enough for me to use daily. But best of all, Ghostty is free and open source.
This could pan out to be my new default terminal emulator.
Planning for the month ahead is enough for me
It is that time of year when many are drawing up changes and plans for the year ahead. A new year brings the opportunity to start over and improve again.
Individually, I’m just planning for the month ahead. Planning to work towards goals for the year is too big a step for me and one I usually fail on. Sure, I’ll list what I would like to do in the new year, but these are not resolutions that I must complete. They’re more like things I would like to do, and that’s enough for me.
Planning a month at a time means I can adapt over the year and change tracks if needed. If things aren’t working out, I can switch up my plan for the month ahead. No big commitment means that I can stay flexible.
Is anyone else on Micro.blog not getting notifications for mentions? I can’t remember the last time I got a notification for a mention. Very frustrating.
Replaced the key caps on my Nuphy with the Numoji set I got for Christmas. Quite a fun set!

Wee yin has started building his A-Frame Cabin set from Lego. I’m just a smidge jealous that he’ll get to do this one all by himself.

This is a reminder from Nicholas Bate that sometimes is not forever, and there is always time.
There are plenty of things I wish I had done in 2024, and I can still do them in 2025.
Did earlier versions of the Unread app for macOS and iOS allow users to change the font? I’m sure I remember earlier versions of this app being able to do this, but I don’t see the setting anywhere.

I finished my annual reading of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. I need to keep it closer to hand for next year. I struggled to find it earlier.
